動詞の原形に ing をつけた形は現在分詞と呼ばれることがある もう動詞ではなくなっていて「その動作を躍動的にやっているイメージ」 だから walking といえば「実際に歩いているイメージ」 I was walking then. と言えば 「私はその時歩いている状態だった」つまり「私はその時歩いていた」
