Passage:
The African elephant is the largest land animal on Earth. It can weigh up to 6,000 kilograms and stand as tall as 3.3 meters at the shoulder. African elephants are known for their large ears, which help them regulate their body temperature, and their long trunks, which they use for picking up food, smelling, and communicating. These elephants are herbivores and eat grasses, fruits, bark, and roots. Due to habitat loss and poaching for their ivory tusks, African elephants are classified as vulnerable, and many conservation efforts are in place to protect them and ensure their survival.
